Charles S. Cohen Appoints Joseph Garcia
Director of Construction for the Design Center of the Americas Garcia will oversee complete renovation of the celebrated design center

DANIA BEACH, FL— Charles S. Cohen, Owner/Developer, is pleased to announce that Joseph Garcia has been appointed Director of Construction for the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA). Garcia will oversee the complete renovation of DCOTA which is planned to begin this summer with the transformation of the design center’s atrium spaces. The changes will bring even greater innovation and design services for design professionals from throughout the world.
“We are planning a completely new DCOTA through the renovation and redesign process,” said Charles Cohen. “Joseph’s expertise will enhance the process and allow us to further develop and expedite the exciting plans that we have underway.”
A graduate of The University of Miami, Garcia began his career with Florida Power & Light Company, where he served in various capacities from 1984-1997. From there he moved to R.B. Grove Incorporated as a power systems and sales consultant, later joining Codina Group Incorporated in Coral Gables as planning & development project manager. Most recently Garcia served as project manager for Groupe Pacific in Aventura, Florida.
Garcia has a wealth of experience having served as a domestic and internal consultant from 1997 - 1999 traveling to South America to provide analytical, technical and business case feasibility studies for domestic and international project. In this capacity he also worked with Montenay International Corporation and Miami-Dade County Resource Recovery to review Utility Agreements. In 1986 Garcia purchased, designed, planned, surveyed, re-zoned, platted new subdivision, prepared for construction and was able to sell the subdivision within one year’s time for a 47% ROI.
