DCOTA creates magic!
DANIA BEACH, FL. – What happens when you mix one of the
area's most talented designers, a Palm Beach socialite and
South Florida's only one-stop source for home interior
needs? Magic! On April 20, 2006 Design Center of the
Americas presented the first in a series of interior
designer installations which will bring together South
Florida's hottest, emerging designers in a dynamic design
competition held at DCOTA.
Joe Fava, one of DCOTA's Design Stars of Tomorrow, presented
his installation, a replica of Palm Beach
socialite Frances Fisher's living room. After
spending just one afternoon in Fisher's house, Fava managed
to recreate the room to a tee. "After seeing a fabric in her
living room that I love and use regularly, I knew what I had
to do," said Fava. The Design
Challenge showcases compelling examples of traditional,
modern and contemporary designs appealing to South Florida's
savvy, international residents. Each of the five designers
was asked to design a dramatic custom room, evoking the
essence of the personal style of five pre-eminent Palm Beach
tastemakers.
Hand selected and inspired by local and international
architecture and design, the five designers will shop the
showrooms at DCOTA and create their dramatic custom room on
a pre-built set. All installations will be set in a DCOTA
showroom reserved for the challenge.
The challenge consists of five
installations presented on an every-other-month basis
through December 2006.The next installation will be by David
Chason on June 22. Each installation will have a private VIP
opening reception and be on view for two weeks. All rooms
will be featured in future issues of Palm Beach Cottages
& Gardens.
Editors of Palm Beach Cottages & Gardens will select
the winner of the 2006 Design Challenge. The winner will be
acknowledged at the 2007 Winter Market.
